Bournemouth Staff
Owners: Connie & Edward Rothman
Welcome to our centre. We are Dr Edward and Connie Rothman and we are the owners of the Bournemouth centre, located near the beautiful beaches of Southbourne. Our goal was to create a place where you and your children feel safe and comfortable as soon as you walk in the door. Our mission is to provide a space where children can come to gain confidence, motivation and discover the fun of learning. Maths and English language skills can be a portal for self-discovery, self-reliance and accomplishment leading to success. Learning in our centre is fun, supportive and we can accommodate students from primary through secondary school.
Connie and Edward have two grown daughters working and living in and near London. They were educated in the U.S. up to secondary school and in England from secondary school through University. Connie has worked in public libraries in the U.S. and England since 1998 and has managed the local library branch since 2003, working closely with local schools, teachers and parents to foster a love of reading and learning. With a BA degree in liberal arts, post-graduate teaching education and background as a teaching assistant in Montessori schools for children ages 3 to 12, Connie has a passion for fostering learning so that each child can realise his or her full potential. She enjoys reading, solving crossword puzzles, long walks and short runs.
Edward has worked in health care and university based education as a senior lecturer, programme leader for a BSc in exercise science, MSc in sports and rehabilitation and as a clinical director. He has served as the chairman of the Board of Governors of a private Montessori middle school for children ages 11, 12 and 13. With undergraduate degrees in English and biology, a doctorate in a clinical discipline, and an MA in academic practise, Edward realises that all learning must be directed to meet individual needs and must excite each student’s natural curiosity. A former fencer, Edward has knocked around the martial arts world for many years and now enjoys running on the beach, sports, reading and cooking.
We hope that you will join our NumberWorks'nWords family.
